Every year Language Marketplace has chosen a charity to support and provided a percentage of our net revenue of one of our fiscal quarters.
In 2017, we want to go 'Above and Beyond'. In addition to our other activities, we are climbing mountains to show our commitment. We are a major sponsor for the ‘7 Summits for Mental Health’ campaign.
Last year we provided assistance to members of the Forest Brook Community Church whom for the 5th year in a row took part on a humanitarian mission to Guatemala.
This fall the group is once again going to lend a hand in Guatemala. This year they will continue to build on what is still needed in the school, but in addition they are adding a Medical Mission component to their visit. The group has a goal to vaccinate 500 children that have no access to health care or vaccines. Language Marketplace has committed itself to a monetary donation to aid with the new Medical Mission.
For more information about the Ministries of Forest Brook Community Church, or if you would like to get involved or donate, please visit their website. To donate for this particular cause, let them know you want to donate to the Guatemala Humanitarian Mission.

This year we have also decided to add something new - a monthly “Act of Kindness” to help at the very local level! With high unemployment and so many families struggling, we thought that helping one person/family/group a month would make a difference. We have also extended this to encourage all of our staff members to ‘volunteer’ their time outside their work hours. Staff will be paid by Language Marketplace for that time they ‘volunteer’ up to 2 days per month. For January, one of our staff identified a local minister who spends so much time helping others in his community and never asked for anything in return. We collected a few boxes of nonperishable groceries and donated $200.00 in gift cards for this family to purchase fresh food. In the fall of 2013 we also collected School bags (new bags filled with the necessities!) and donated them to a minister who ships them to Guatemala each fall! Here is a Thank You Letter!
We were blessed to serve dinner to community members of Our Place Community of Hope. On the menu was Portuguese BBQ chicken, roasted potatoes, vegetable Portuguese style rice, garden salad and home baked Easter bunny cookies. A team of five Language Marketplace members from head office served the meal and a couple even tried their hand at a friendly game of pool with some residents. It was our pleasure to share our time and offer some good food to these members. "Our Place Community of Hope" promotes belonging, safety, healing and sharing for people with mental illnesses. Please visit their website for more information and consider a donation!.
