Laval Facts:

Laval is a city in southwestern Québec (in the Greater Montréal Area).  Laval is the 3rd largest city in Québec with a total population of 368,000 people.  The citizens of Laval are mainly of the Christian – Catholic Religion. Laval is an Island. The island is still rural in nature, with most of the urban area in the central region and along the south and west river banks.


Laval is not as linguistically diverse as Montréal, with about 68% of the population speaking French Canadian as their mother tongue and 74% of residence speaking French in the homes.  The other language of communication is English (7%), Italian (4%), Greek and Arabic (4%), Spanish (2%) and Armenian (2%).   Other languages spoken by Laval’s population are Lebanese, Romanian, Portuguese and Russian. First Nations represent 1.8%.


Laval’s assorted economy is centered on technology, pharmaceutical, industrial and retail sectors.  There are numerous of shopping malls, warehouses and retail stores in Laval, along with numerous Industrial parks. The Industrial Park Centre is one of the industrial parks in Laval and it is one of the largest municipal industrial parks in Québec. The Industrial Park Centre is located in the heart of Laval (corner of St. Martin West and Blvd. Industriel) and boasts the highest concentration of manufacturing companies in Laval; 1,024 at last count, and 22,378 employees according to Wikipedia. The park still has 1,300,64 square meters of space available.
