ATIO Bill Pr36 English or ATIO Bill Pr36 French.

In-House Interpreter Training

A failure to communicate effectively could cost patients their health or even result in malpractice suits.

The number of ethnically diverse patients continues to rise every year.

Are you using staff that speaks another language to complement your interpretation services needs for your patients?

If yes, then:

Have you trained and qualified your staff on cultural and linguistics issues?

If you answered NO to the above question, Language Marketplace can develop and deliver a customized Language Service plan - for Free*.

Do you have signage and information sheets and/or consent forms in other languages?

Language Marketplace can help you translate these important and time saving documents into any language you require. We maintain the Database for future changes you may require.

We can test your staff that speak another language for their linguistic abilities and/or train your qualified staff, through our Skills Development Training , to use their language skills for in-house interpretation services. We focus on increasing value and opportunity for you with your patients whom have limited English or French proficiency - generating new revenue, improving the quality of your cross-cultural communications, reducing risk, and lowering your overall costs.

Skills Developments Training

This training includes:

  • Ethics
  • Language Manipulation
  • Best Practices for Interpreting

The training includes extensive role-playing vignettes that incorporate field-specific language. The Skills Development Training is conducted in an integrated setting (in your work place or in our classroom) and does not require the segregation of the different language groups into their own classroom.

The assessment process for the Skills Development Training class will consist of:

  • Oral Language Proficiency Assessment (OLPA)
  • Post-tests (one for language proficiency development and another for knowledge of material covered in training).

How do we know that the staff member is qualified to practice 'interpreting skills'? The Skills Development Training validation process is based on standards of measure developed by Language Marketplace**, qualified internally, and required no further validation from an outside party. This internal validation will specify that the graduates are qualified to practice 'interpreting' within the parameters of your service plan.

This course is a 8-hour full and comprehensive training module and cannot be divided into separate components. It has been field-tested and has been demonstrated and proven successful in many interpreting situations, including medical interpretation.

Language Marketplace instructors administer the course. Please call please call 905-896-8428 or email info@languagemarketplace.ca
